Thuận

Thuận was born in 1967 in Hanoi. She studied at Pyatigorsk University (Russia) and at la Sorbonne in Paris. She is the author of ten novels, seven of which were translated and published in France, by Seuil, Rives Neuves and Actes Sud : Chinatown, T. a disparu, L’ascenseur de Saigon, Un avril bien tranquille à Saigon, Lettres à Mina and Le parc aux roseaux.

Chinatown, her debut novel in English, translated by Nguyễn An Lý, won a PEN Translates Award and the 2023 ALTA National Translation Award, was the Runner-Up for TA First Translation Prize 2023 and shortlisted for the 2023 Republic of Consciousness Prize. She currently lives in Paris, writes in both Vietnamese and French.

Her second novel in English, Elevator in Sài Gòn, translated by Nguyễn An Lý will be published by New Directions (July 2024), Tilted Axis (August 2024) and Book*hug (July 2024).
